“I was a long-time Pact Coffee subscriber... then I came across Sam at a market. The beans were miles ahead of the coffee I had been using. Needless to say I switched to Rise & Grind... Highly recommend Rise & Grind!

The name "Migoti" comes from a local tree

The name "Migoti" comes from a local tree and the mountain where Migoti built its first coffee washing station in the Mutambu Commune of Bujumbura, 30 km from the city. Coffee production began in Burundi under Belgian rule in the early 1900s and went through cycles of privatization and state control. After the 1990s civil war, coffee helped revive the economy, though challenges followed the 2015 political crisis. Burundi, while small, has ideal conditions for growing Arabica Bourbon coffee. Migoti Coffee Company, established in 2016, partners with local farmers and has produced over 300 tons of high-quality coffee in recent seasons.

A Bit about the Producers

Experience the exceptional taste of Burundi, a hidden gem in East Africa's coffee scene. Thanks to its high altitudes, rich volcanic soil, and expert processing, Burundi has earned a stellar reputation for producing some of the finest coffee in the region. Coffee is cultivated across the country, but the most renowned farms and cooperatives are nestled in Buyenzi, Mumirwa, and Kirimiro, located in the scenic northeast.

We are proud to partner with Omwani & Migoti Coffee Company, a local leader based in Burundi, to bring you the very best. Together, we source premium beans from washing stations that work directly with farmers cultivating their crops high in the mountains above the breathtaking Lake Tanganyika.

Their commitment goes beyond coffee. With a focus on long-term partnerships, supporting farmers in planting new crops alongside their coffee trees, launching ambitious hydropower projects, and providing education to enhance both quality and yield. There aligned goal is to help build a brighter future for farmers, their families, and the next generation of Burundi’s coffee community.

This particular lot from Kigina Hill is a standout for autumn. Expect a vibrant, juicy body with a luxurious creamy mouthfeel & honey sweetness, paired with floral, tea-like acidity. The rich, full aroma of red cherries rounds out this delightful brew, making it an absolute must-try for the season.
